Bulletin Board Policy

Effective Date: March 18, 2013

Community bulletin board and literature rack space (where available) may be used only by organizations engaged in informational, educational, cultural, or non-profit activities in the community.  The library does not advocate or endorse the viewpoints of any group or individual displaying material.  The library welcomes a broad spectrum of opinions and a variety of viewpoints.

Posters for individual events are appropriate for the bulletin board.  Literature regarding ongoing services by an organization should be formatted for the literature rack.

Postings planned by a company, group, or individual to promote, advertise, or lead to the sale of products and services are not permitted.

The library will make every effort to accommodate as many items as possible.  Postings may remain for a maximum of four weeks but may be displayed for a shorter period of time if demand is high.  Due to limited space on the bulletin boards, it is recommended that posters be no larger than 8 ½ inches by 11 inches.   While accepted, there may not be space for larger posters or they may be on display for a shorter period of time.  Display materials are considered disposable and library staff may remove and discard as necessary.

All materials for display must be approved by library staff.  Any materials placed on display without approval will be discarded.  Permission shall be granted based upon the limitations of display space, the timeliness of the material, adherence to community standards for good taste in presentation, and the relevance of the material to the community.   Every effort will be made to display all approved materials but limited space may impact the duration of time materials will be available.

Use of community bulletin board and literature rack space is free of charge.
